5 WAYS TO INCORPORATE PANTONE COLOUR OF THE YEAR INTO YOUR HOME

IN THE NEWS     Published

Each year the Pantone Colour Institute chooses a colour to define the year ahead. The decision is based on, “everything happening in the world at the moment, in terms of design, fashion, art, news, travel and more.” This year’s choice is Ultra Violet (18-3838), demonstrating “originality, ingenuity, and visionary thinking.”

Here are 5 ways to incorporate Pantone Colour of The Year (COTY) into your home:

Living Room Chair
Have a room that follows a simple colour pattern? Want to add some spunk or an accent piece? Add a simple yet stylish purple love seat, one-seater or couch to your living or family room to add contrast and a pop of colour.

Accessories Around Your Home
Do you want to incorporate Pantone’s COTY but do so in a mild manner? Pick up some home accessories in shades of purple. Grab some pillows, blankets, flowers, candles, lamps, etc. to add an attractive on-trend look.

Wall Paper or Paint
This requires more of a permanent action but adding a soft watercolour print to your walls can make a bedroom seem more relaxing. Add a contemporary feel by painting one wall in a room a shade of purple, making it an accent wall for that timeless feel.

Fabric
Is it time to change up those outdated patterned window treatments? If so, consider adding a sleek and simple violet window treatment to any room to brighten up the space in a subtle yet noticeable way.

Into Your Kitchen
Go for it – Paint all of your cabinets purple! (Ok, kidding. But if you wanted too, we are totally okay with that.) Go out and grab some bowls and plates in the COTY to add some contrast to your table settings. A serving bowl filled with limes or lemons on your counter will add a dramatic affect to your kitchen, especially if the colour trend is neutral. Other ideas: A small area rug under your sink, some kitchen towels or simply even a few coasters are a small yet great way to bring the colour into your kitchen.
